Hurray For The Riff Raff
Saturday, July 27, 2013
“Honesty comes in all different forms- but you know it when you see it. I see that honesty every time I witness Hurray for the Riff Raff perform. They bleed their songs, they believe in what they do and after you see them, you’ll believe it too. Alynda will pummel your heart with her raw, beautiful voice while Yosi makes that fiddle weep.
Sometimes, music festivals are done on such a large scale we lose the connection with the music and the musicians performing. What is beautiful about Newport is how you can feel that strong connection with the performer no matter how big or small the stage. Hurray for the Riff Raff is perfect for Newport for just this reason and there is no doubt in my mind that every person that sees them perform will feel that connection.
I had the pleasure of touring with Hurray for the Riff Raff, and every night of that tour I couldn’t help but dance and sing along to their entire set. You have to understand, when touring with another band every single night, you usually start getting sick of ‘em, but I was on the road with Hurray for the Riff Raff for a month and still didn’t miss one of their amazing performances.
The Newport Folk Festival was created for pure, honest music to be heard by everyone. That is exactly what Hurray for the Riff Raff is. It’s my great pleasure and honor to announce that they will be performing at the 2013 Newport Folk Festival. I’ll see you there- I’ll be the one in front, dancing and singing my lungs out.
… Oh and don’t get me started on that drummer of theirs, Sam Doores…he’s a fox.”
